The 9th Our Oceans Conference is coming to Athens! Our Oceans conference is an international institution that is organized every year in a different country and aims to bring into light issues related to the protection of the seas, as well as to produce tangible results through the undertaking of commitments by governments and other entities.
On April 15, at the Youth Leadership Summit, the founder and director of BlueCycle Mrs. Suzana Laskaridis will present our activity and participate in a mentoring session for young people from all over the world who are actively involved in the protection of the marine environment.
On April 17, Mrs. Laskaridis will participate in a round table on “Navigating Change: Progress and prospects in the fight against marine plastic pollution”. The issue of managing the problem of marine plastic pollution will be discussed by representatives from international agencies and organizations. See more about the event here.
As part of the conference, the film festival “Waves of Cinema: A festival of Oceanic Films” is being organized at the Athens Concert Hall (free entry). On Tuesday, April 16, at 18:30, the short documentary “Second Nature” by Oscar-nominated director Dafnis Matziarakis will be screened. The film is the “birthstory” of BlueCycle, when the design duo The New Raw “dove” into the waters of the Galaxidi to retrieve an abandoned net and they gave it a new life, using a 3D printer.
