FISHING GEAR
Fishing nets, a valuable tool for fishermen, are made of various types of plastic. They are often found dumped in the sea; they are the so-called “ghost nets”, one of the biggest threats to the marine ecosystem worldwide.
The contribution of fishermen to BlueCycle through their cooperation in cleaning the shores and the sea, as well as through the marine litter collection project is of great importance to the success of the programme.
SHIPPING GEAR
Mooring ropes mainly and other types of rope used in shipping. They are made of different types of plastic in various combinations, in order to achieve the durability needed for their demanding job.
BlueCycle encourages the creation of a return system for used ropes and their re-use in processes that are in line with the principals of circular economy.
